The Head of Saudi Regime pardons Saudi Rape Victim December 18, 2007 Saudi King Abdullah has pardoned 'Girl of Qatif' a rape victim who had been sentenced to 200 lashes and six months in prison by the Qatif General Court, CNN Press Agency has reported . Al-Jazirah daily newspaper (belonging to the family of Al Saud) quoted Saudi Arabia's Justice Minister Abdullah Bin Mohammad al-Sheikh as saying that " the Saudi judiciary is fair , just, transparent and independent . Saudi judges are keen to maintain the people's rights, including the protection of their honor and money, according to the dictates of Islamic law, and that there is no room for suspicion in the Saudi justice system . " It is worth mentioning that the king's pardon was a result of pressure on Saudi regime by political circles and human rights organizations, which have criticized the Saudi regime due to unfair sentences issued by the Qatif General Court. |
