( CDHRAP ) The Saudi authorities arrested the poet Sayyed Al Taha August 7, 2007 According to Rasid Network , the Saudi authorities arrested on August 4, 2007 the poet (Sayyed Adnan Sharaf Al Taha) of Al-Hassa due to participating in Shi'a public processions during the Islamic month of Muharram the occasion of the martyrdom of Hussein (P.B.U.H). The arrest of the citizen Al Taha came among a campaign launched by the Saudi authorities against Shi'a community in Qatif and Al-Hassa under a pretext of exercising some religious ceremonies that contrary to the doctrine officially sanctioned by the government. The Committee for the Defense of Human Rights in the Arabian Peninsula ( CDHRAP ) warned repeatedly about these arrests involving Shi'a in the area and warned of worsening security situation within the global campaign launched by the Saudi regime against Shi'a community. |
