The Saudi regime began to launch a campaign against Shi'a citizens in the Eastern Province , particularly in al-Ahsa and Qatif, in conjunction with the wave of Fatwas (religious verdicts) issued by senior Saudi clerics who belong to the Council of Senior Islamic Scholars ( Ulama ) .

On 3 / 7 / 2007 , the Saudi regime arrested the citizen (Meqdad Al-Abd al-Muhsin, 28 years ) from the village of Jubail in al-Ahsa , and was transferred to the public prison of al-Ahsa under the charge of participation in the peaceful religious marches in the occasion of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (p) the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (p) . Also reliable news reported the intention of the regime to arrest a number of citizens who participate in  other marches.

The Committee   for  the  Defense  of  Human  Rights  in the  Arabian Peninsula Appeals all human rights organizations to focus on the issue of Shi'a detainees of the Eastern Province and reminds them of their objectives of defending the rights of the oppressed people and call the world governments to pressure Al Saud family to stop its barbaric practices against the Shi'a of the  Arabian Peninsula .
