The Brutality and Terrorism are main characteristics for Saudi Regime THE COMMITTEE FOR THE DEFENSE OF HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE ARABIAN PENINSULA DATE : 20 / 03/ 2002 NO : 113/ H / 2002 On 18/4/2002 and 19/4/2002 , a big demonstration took place in Qatif and Safwa cities in the Eastern Province in the Arabian Peninsula. The demonstration included thousands of people who protested the Zionist crimes against the Palestinians in the occupied Palestine. The demonstrators protested American support to Israil , but that demonstration was attacked by anti-riot forces and other members of al-Mabahith al-`Amma who spread within the demonstrators wearing no uniform. These forces began to attack the demonstrators with batons and fired them. They also attacked the pedestrians who did not participate in that demonstration. As a result dozens of citizens were injured. The security forces rounded up the demonstrators who hid at the neighboring houses in the housing quarters. Then the security forces arrested hundreds of people included women and children who subjected to beating and attacked the owners of shops and the vehicles drivers , they ran after some girls in Safwa streets and began to beat and kick them. Some members of these forces recorded these events on videotapes. Reliable sources reported that more than seven buses of anti-riot forces accompanied with twenty jeebs and a lot of police vehicles blocked Safwa streets on Friday. A lot of men and women were transferred to prisons , included a disabled man called (Sayyid Tahir Sayyid Hassain al-Hashim) and his eleven-year-old daughter and beaten severely , a citizen was dragged from his car and beaten by the security forces then he was mounted to a bus, his wife followed him, but she was mounted too. She began to cry and asked them to release her daughter , when they refused that , she fainted and was beaten by the forces and thrown from the bus , then a pedestrian could give her an aid . One of the demonstrators said that the security forces blocked all the entryways to Safwa town and attacked the demonstrators arrested at least a hundred women and girls and transferred them to a prison in Dhahran. One citizen reported that the security forces bet his grandmother, a 70 -year -old when she was walking in a street that caused some wounds for her. The detainees who were arrested included: 1- Mustafa al-Abd al-Jabbar al-Faris 2- Bayyat Abdul Ghani al-Bayat 3-Mohammad Nazar al-Mustafa 4- Mohammad al-Jubara 5-Ahmad Mohammad Ali al-Jashi 6- Feda al-Sayyid Tahir al-Sayyid Hussain al-Hashim ,11 years old 7- Zainab Saud al-Khalaf , 13 years old 8- Tahera Abdullah al-Moslem 15 years old, 9- Kadum Majid al As'ad 10- Haider Mohammad Haider AL As`ad 11- Haider As`ad al-Sada 12- Taha Abdullah al Ibrahim 13- Mohammad Majid Ne`ma 14- Hussain Sai`d al-Sadiq 15- Shakir Bushri 16- Abdul Karim al-Dawood Some sources reported that some citizens were transferred to Dammam prison and made them take off their clothes and used some forms of torture including beating with sticks and electro- shock batons and let some crazy dogs to attack them. In Safwa town, the police office called for some religious scholars and warned them not to support the demonstrations , and forced to sign undertakings not to participate in or them, among those scholars are: 1. Sheikh Yousif al-Mahdi. 2. Sheikh Hassan al-Khouweildi. 3. Sheikh Sora` al-Dohaim. On other hand, a citizen from Ihsaa reported that on 19/4/2002 the Education Director of Ihsaa informed all the schools of Ihsaa to : 1- Inform all the students with the ban on the demonstrations by the authorities. 2- Submit a bill with the names of absent students to the police office or al-Mabahith al-`Amma |
