While scores of scholars and hundreds of citizens are still held in the dim prisons, the Saudi regime has committed another crime when it arrested one of the most prominent scholars and popular preachers in Arabian Peninsula and the Gulf .
On 04/12/1999 the members of al-Mabahith l-`Amma a 38-year- old, a religious scholar from al-Qatif at Jeddeh Airport upon his return to Saudi Arabia from Iran where he was pursuing his high studies of jurisprudence and Islamic sciences in the Shi`a Seminary of Qom. He was also a common Professor in that Seminary.
It is worth mentioning that the Saudi regime does not allow the establishment of religious institutions and seminaries that teach Islamic sciences according to the Shi`a Doctrine.
The Saudi government also does not permit private construction of Shi`a mosques, Husseinyat or religious centers.
On one hand , the General Investigations (al-Mabahith al-`Amma) arrested last month some citizens , including:
1- Abdul Karim Hussain al-Nemer, aged 41, gold dealer, from al-Dammam city.
2- Abdul Ghani al-Hamoud, aged 38, domestic employee, from al-Dammam city.
3- Naser al-Zaher, aged 33, free services, from Sihat town.
It is note worth that the latter was previously detained in April 1997 due to his religious activities and then released.
The process of detention and humiliating of religious scholars has confirmed that the Saudi regime has no respect for Islam and its sacred Shari`a but it raises the slogan of applying Shari`a and Quranic laws in its political system to break away of its obligations towards the human rights treaties and to justify its practices that are contrary to Islam.
The corruption of the Saudi judicial system , its dependence and subordination to the ministry of Interior, shows that the Saudi Regime does not apply the Laws of Islam.
Till when our country will be without independent judiciary and will be ruled by confusion, royal decrees and the individual interests of rulers?
