The decision of deporting the
national Hani Abdul Rahiem al-Sayegh , who was forcibly returned home last
Monday by the US authorities, is considered as a reveal of the truth which the
US authorities hides behind it through raising the slogan of defending the
human rights , the justice and the democracy.
The US government
works for the behalf of its interests and the issue of human rights used as a
false slogan with the aim of achieving another purposes.
The American government
overlooked all the international laws and norms which one of these laws
confirms, “No State Party shall expel, return or extradite a person to another
state where there are substantial grounds for believing that he would be in
danger of being subjected to torture”. (Article 3 of the CAT).
The Saudi promise of protecting
Hani al-Sayegh from torture which came through the statement of the Saudi
Arabian Ambassador to USA, (Bander bin Sultan) is a false statement because the
Saudi regime has stated many times that it didn’t use torture against the
prisoners while the victims of torture were numerous and some of them died in
custody with no reasons of their detention, as the citizens (Saud Hammad, Ahmad
Mahdi Khamis , Zahra al-Naser, Maithem al-Baher, Mohammad al-Hayek, Abdullah
al-Hudheyf , Ahmad al-Mulablab) and others who are considered as prosecution
witness of using torture by the Saudi regime against the prisoners without
paying any attention to the international treaties or laws.
The Saudi promise should be not
as legal justification for US authorities to deport Hani al-Sayegh and our
people will not forgive this unjust measure by the Us authorities in spite of
its justifications.
Under what legal
excuse does the US authorities deport al-Sayegh while he was innocent according
to the lack of evidence during his trial in USA or in Canada , and according to
the American weekly magazine (Newsweek) which stated in its issue on 07/04/1997
that there were no sufficient evidence with USA and Canada to convict
al-Sayegh. It referred also to false reports submitted by Saudi authorities
mentioned confessions (taken under torture) of some detainees in Saudi prisons
against al-Sayegh.
We condemn that unjust measure of
US government which we consider it as a collusion between USA and Saudi regime
and it may result increase of victims in Saudi prisons according to the Minister
of Interior, Naif bin `Abdul-`Aziz , who has recently stated that there were
some suspiciouses involved in connection with the bombing of a US military
complex al-Khobar.
In order to hide
their failure to discover the real executors of the bombing , the US authorities and the Saudi
regime try to accuse al-Sayegh and those innocent citizens.
We refuse that our
natives be sacrifices for plots of Americans and Saudis who want to close
al-Khobar file at the expense of some citizens’ lives who have no sin except
their refuse for the oppression of the Regime and its human rights abuses.
We warn others of
(the Charge of Terrorism) which is used by the Regime against the opponents
because the continuation on this policy will spread the confusion and will
choke the freedom of speech and view.
We are sure that the Regime will
succeed to find thousand of proofs and offenders in that case if it uses the
torture and the criminal means of coercion as they have previously used with
sixteen Kuwaiti pilgrims in 1989 accused them of an attempt of explosion in
Mecca, and used with the citizen Sadiq Abdul Kareem Mallalah when he was
accused of insulting of Allah , the prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H.) and the Holy
Koran , then he was beheaded in 1992. Also the citizens Abdul Aziz al-Ma`them,
Khalid al-Sa`id, Reyadh al-Hajiri and Moslih al-Shimrani , who were accused of
the accident of Alya bombing in Reyadh in 1995.
The safety of Hani al-Sayegh and
the others who are still behind bars, is subjected to serious efforts and
suitable measures of human rights organizations all over the world and the
Islamic and political personalities and centers which have effect on the
Islamic and international levels.
We also call upon setting
up an international independent committee to observe the trial of Hani
al-Sayegh and other citizens who may be inserted in this case to guarantee a
fair trial for them.
We call upon them to exert
pressure on Saudi regime to allow lawyers to defend them because the Saudi
judiciary is unfair and dependent on the political authorities.
